Traveling while black, I did not know it was a thing. On a recent trip to Toronto I felt the embodiment of the phrase. Like everything else, when blacks do anything, we take ownership and the experience becomes different in every way than how anyone else, does it. Somehow, if there is a festival or major celebration of some sort that we are interested in, we seem to takeover the scene. It's not a bad thing, I think it's actually a testimony to our cultural prowess. We have a natural gravitational pull that propells our engagement level higher than what's expected or even imagined. If you don't believe me try attending DC takeover in Miami, or Toronto's Annual Carabana Festival, Essence Festival....Our style, vibes, and interests magnify and intensifies the social scene. Well all things considered, the black experience definitely has its drawbacks but when we are together man we take take it to another level!
