Abrace la belleza y la curva

Sometimes, I toil with my own perceptions of what beauty represents for me. There are truly so many beautiful people and things in the world, one could hardly turn left or right without catching a glimpse. In fashion, an industry built on peoples perception of beauty, conceptually beauty becomes less complex, and more one dimensional, especially on the runways. This is an old and ongoing struggle for most individuals who venture into this world but perhaps don't quite fit the "ideal" conventions of high fashion society.  It's never been my style to shy away from any challenge and for me it's a personal mission to invent, redesign, and cultivate a new culture in the fashion world. A world that embraces every ethnicity, size, and creed, a culture united by the beauty that lies, within us all. Ignore the ordinary constraints of society's ideals, let your style mantra, be bold and beautiful, be you!

A walk in the park!

I've been salivating on furs for the past couple of months. The only challenge forms is how do I afford  what is the truest representation of luxury, status, and refinement in fashion., Although,  I'm still aiming high, I haven't hit that level of achievement just yet. In the meantime, feel free to indulge in faux furs and vintage furs. They offer the affordability, style, and comfort if you are a supporter of vegan clothing.

Baroquilisms

According to wiki, the Baroque, is a period of artistic style that used exaggerated motion and clear, easily interpreted detail to produce drama, tension, exuberance, and grandeur in sculpture, painting, architecture, literature, dance, and music. The style began around 1600 in Rome, Italy and spread to most of Europe. The patterns reminiscent of this era, have superimposed itself, as a rich gold tapestry, empirically ascribed on t-shirts, sweatshirts and jackets this year.  This look has been championed by the likes of Two Chains, French Montana and Tyga, though lending its heritage from the days of the Baroque period, it is very present within the urban apparel wearer. So how do you wear it? Pair your choice baroque inspired piece with leather jeans, riding pants or joggers.

Russian Roulette

Sometimes while shopping, you find something that you like but its maybe a little out of your comfort zone. Trying something new isn't always easy, because if nothing else, you want a certain level of comfort, in what you are wearing. However, every now and again,  you have to trust your instincts, as what may seem like a gamble, may indeed be a sure thing. So be confident, be bold, and be dangerous in style.

Wearing Leather to the Office

Leather is trending true to form in most of our wears. It would be hard not to stumble upon this rich textile  or even the faux version, when shopping for your closet. However, with that being said, we all have to put on our curators lens, being careful to edit and cut when necessary. What you don't want to happen is, to one day open your closet and see a sea of this rich hide on every hanger. Do indulge in this decadent texture, if even if you are wearing it to work. Leather  already has an edgy tone, so keep it simple in terms of color and form. I chose to pair my leather pencil skirt with a modest mock sweater and my classic Ralph Lauren slippers. The subtle layering of textiles creates harmony among the three pieces without competition. You might decide to incorporate leather in a different way, do play around with classics such as the blazer or a vest even but remember as stated before be selective in your color choices and shy away from dramatic prints.

Celebrity StyleFile: Jennifer Lawrence

Although she's fairly young at age 23, Jennifer Lawrence, has taken no time in solidifying her celebrity, with some stunningly haute, red carpet looks! Her latest accomplishment, worthy of much applause and acclaim,  was a Sheer Haute Couture Dior, gown she wore to a premier of her new movie, a sequel to the Hunger  Games. Complete with a strapless bodysuit this look elevated us all to a fashion cloud in the sky! My only critique, is her blonde finger tussled boyshort haircut, although I did not mind the length, I would have loved this look with a smooth brunette finish, to bring out those heather grey eyes. Nonetheless bravo, and two thumbs way up, for her style team!

Out with the Old and in with the New-Workflow

I have to admit, laundering my clothes isn't something Id say, I was an expert in doing. My most recent laundry blunder, as there have been many, was drying my printastic drawstring dress from Zara. When I made the unfortunate discovery in the dryer, it was far too late. The shrinking damage had already been done. However, as most creative minds do, I came up with a solution that would allow me to keep one of my favorite dresses. Rather than part with it, I decided to wear it as a tunic.  If you have this dilemma, be sure whatever its is still does fit,  before trading in its old  purpose for a new one.

You can Stand Under My Umbrella (ella, ella, ay, ay, ay)

I used to find that even with the help of my stylepedia, it was always difficult to find a fashionable look when it rains. Its something about those clouds, mist, and muddy puddles, that discourages even the likes of me to shoot for the fashion stars! However, now that I've adopted  a wardrobe complete with sporty chic essentials, my rainy day troubles seem to have disappeared with the sunshine. My philosophy, is when its wet outside, wear materials on your feet that are resilient in water. Take out your favorite rain boot or combat, or riding boot.  If you need to still look professional at work, compliment your feet by dressing up your boots with a midi skirt.  Another option is to keep it sporty, and wear a pair joggers or leggings for comfort. This is also the best time to sport your favorite knits and layer it with a graphic tee. Lastly, make it rain, for the fashionistas,  add a nice finish by donning a light scarf or fedora. This guarantees a winning look by a  landslide!!

P.S. Investing in a cute umbrella never hurt anyone:)

Cape May I?

Don't fret if you feel like you haven't gotten prepared for the cold weather. Outerwear was a huge focus on this seasons runways, therefore it will be in abundance at you're favorite local department store or boutique. The challenge will be selecting which style, print, and size works best for your frame. Have fun with color and prints as plaid is all the rave but be mindful of your chosen silhouette, as proportions will determine if it was the right choice. Capes especially can be tricky, be sure the length and color work well within your fall winter staples.

3 Stripes and You're Out

The uniform is a great template for reinventing for your personal wardrobe. Wearing a uniform inspired ensemble no longer represents a clothing of one nature, its no longer utilitarian. It is however a great template for creating a polished tailored look. Begin by selecting a color scheme, but remember to keep it simple, by selecting no more than 3 colors. Then choose a uniform style such as military,  sports, or boy/girls scouts from which to draw your inspiration. The final product will delight your modern and contemporary heart.

Trending Topics: Wears Your Religion?

Fashion this season will fall under the holy grail, quite literally.  Religious representation in fashion is nothing new, however fashion goers will be encouraged to depart from their sinful nature and worship the fashion GODs. Praise this trend by embracing monastical  items such as contrasting black and white, buttoned collared or Mondrian shirts, floor length skirts with dress coats and lastly the fedora is a great way to add some flare to this contemporary style.

StyleTip: Incorporate a Burst of Color into Your Fall Wardrobe

A little color goes a long way. Brighten your fall wardrobe with a burst of color. Neon yellow, pinks and greens are a great addition to anything from the basic color wheel spectrum. Its also a great recipe for spicing up your heavy woolen threads, typically worn during the fall/winter season.
